Fractal Creator

Fractal Creator logo. Bifurcation diagram for ratio of polynomials.

Fractal Creator makes it possible to create fractals from single complex polynomials as well as ratios of two complex polynomials. Both bifurcation diagrams (for example the Mandelbrot set) and Julia sets can be created. By tapping the fractal the user can either zoom in or create a Julia set from a point in a bifurcation diagram. There is also a set of named fractals which is a selection of fractals deriving from the well known Mandelbrot set. Additional advanced features:

Included:

  • Set your color scheme with complete flexibility to set colors and iteration significance for them.
  • Choose seedpoint for your bifurcation diagram.
  • Set the center point and the outer distance determining when to stop iterating.
  • Flexibly set the limits of your display area and pixelsize.

Fractal Creator is available for Windows 10 on Windows store.

Manual for download.

Here are some examples of what can be created with FractalCreator

Here are some tutorials to learn to use FractalCreator. They are rated as basic or advanced depending on their complexity level. They are also collected in a FractalCreator playlist on youtube.

Mandelbrot set

Rated basic. It shows how to make a Mandelbrot set and zoom into it.

Julia set

Rated basic. It shows how to make Julia sets from the Mandelbrot set.

Predefined named fractals

Rated basic. It shows how to select named fractals (i.e. predefined). and produce them.

Change size of fractals

Rated basic. It shows how to set the size of produced fractals. Both by changing displayed area in the complex plane and changing number of pixels per unit distance.

Set color schemes

Rated advanced. This is an advanced tutorial for FractalCreator. It shows how to set the colors a fractal is displayed with. A predefined scheme can be selected from a dropdown. More flexibly, colors from a dropdown can be set for certain iterations. For complete flexibility, colors can be defined in the RGB system and used.

Set the iterating function

Rated advanced. This is an advanced tutorial for FractalCreator. It shows how to change the iterated function (in the Mandelbrot case it is a squared complex number). The function can be set with any complex coefficient and have exponent from 0 to 9. More than one term can be used. A denominator of the same form can be used so that a ratio of two complex polynomials are used.
